CATEGORIES

The competition is divided into 3 mcro categories: Figures, Ordnance and Juniores.

FIGURES

Are subdivided into two categories: HISTORIC and FANTASY, and each category is divided into two levels of expertise:

MASTER – upper level, with proven experience, who have won prizes in national and international events, or, however, they want to compete together with the modellers accredited.

STANDARD – a basic level, with limited experience, who have not yet won awards in national and international events.

Within two categories:

PAINTING – only the painting of the subject is judged; any modifications to the original model are not taken into account.

OPEN – both the painting and the modification/ full creation of the subject are judged, in this category will be judged the box dioramas as well.

The jury reserves the right to change the category of any one or more piece entered in the competition or even the entire display if the entry category is seen to be incorrect.

ORDNANCE

The development, creation or modification of a model already on the market is accepted; figurines and accessories may be included but will not be considered by the judges except in the category dioramas, where the piece will be judged as a whole.

The tables are divided and labelled according to the different categories and levels. Any competitor who has work entered in the competition must place them on the correct dedicated tables.

Models that have been entered in other editions are not permitted, nor are models that may be offensive to the public, or inappropriate to the decency of the event:  the organizing committee reserves the right to not accept such works.

JUNIORES (J)

The JUNIOR (J) category includes modellers up to 14 age; it is a unique category and includes historical and fantasy Figures – Military Vehicles – Dioramas – Aircraft – Civil Vehicles – Ships.

JUDGEMENT

The jury is composed of world-renowned experts coordinated by a Chief Judge and three other judges who are responsible for the three main categories – Historical Figures, Fantasy Figures, Ordnance. The judges’ decision is final.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT

HISTORICAL AND FANTASY FIGURES

Each subject will be examined by a panel of judges, who will evaluate the piece highlighted by the modeller and althea pieces that make up the display, the judges will choose to judge and vote for the single piece, the number of pieces or the entire display so as to give the modeller the maximum recognition.

ORDNANCE

Each model will be evaluated individually.

In the Aircraft and Helicopters category, the models will be evaluated separately.

In the Aicraft and aircaft dioramas, Military vehicles and military dioramas, the models will be evaluated according to the following historical periods: until 1918 (WWI), until 1945 (WWII), until present (modern).

Each judge will evaluate the subject in a scale from 0 to 4 points; the sum of the scores of the judges will determine the final judgment, according to the following scheme:

GOLD: 12-11

SILVER: 10-9-8

BRONZE: 7-6-5

CERTIFICATE: 4-3-2-1

NOTHING: 0


SECURITY AND CONTRLS

The models will be exposed to shelter from the elements in a closed, properly controlled environment, but they will not be covered by insurance. The Organizing Committee (VMS ITALY) will provide adequate supervision of the models. We accept no responsibility in case of theft and any other event that could damage the models on display.

Once the pieces have been placed and positioned on the display tables, even modellers no longer are permitted to touch or move the models, except with the assistance of the security staff. The jury reserves the right to disqualify contestants who do not follow these rules.

PRIVACY POLICY

Personal data will be processed in accordance with current regulations D.L. 196/2003 the data will not be disclosed to third parties. The Organizing Committee (VMS ITALY) reserves the right to take photographs and video footage of the models on display, to publish these photographs in specialized or non-specialized magazines and books, monographs and other publications about the event, or on their own site and / or on sites linked to the event.

Entry to the competition implies acceptance of the rules in their entirety and implicitly authorizes the VMS 2018 Organization take photographs and use the same for institutional purposes.

Models delivery

Friday 31st May 2019 – from 15.00 to 19.00

Saturday 1st June 2019 – from 9.00 to 12.00

Models withdraw

The models can be collected only at the end of the award ceremony – Sunday 3 June 2019, by presenting the registration receipt to the supervisors present in the exhibition hall, at the time of collection.
